It's tough to turn on the news today without hearing something about the government wanting to "Change" health insurance and the health insurance companies making too much money. Or people getting turned down for health coverage, or their premiums keep going up and rates are no longer affordable. Yes, much of that is true. But my job as a Florida Health Insurance Agent is to help you find a good quality company that won't break the bank and an insurance company that is easy to work with. One that you can call and they will answer your questions. One that will handle your underwriting in a fair and timely manner and treat you with respect.
Over the past few years one of the carriers I did business with started to become increasing difficult to work with. They became very unfriendly, almost adversarial with the agents, as well as their customers. Trying to reach them by telephone was a challenge. Getting correct answers was even more difficult. In my opinion they became too big and out of touch. For this reason, I stopped writing new business with this carrier. This big insurance company tried to impose minimum's, indicating if you do not write a certain quota they will terminate your ability to do business with them. Well, sorry, that is not the way I do business. If company "X" is going to offer a better insurance product than company "Y" ethically I am compelled to sell my customer the product that I believe is best for them. Regardless of quota's and threats of termination I do what is best for my customers.
